Welcome to Highland Sun's home page! Highland Sun is one of the top independent bands in Southern California, specializing in traditional Celtic music. We play regularly throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. If you're looking for great tunes - jigs, reels, hornpipes, and soul-stirring songs, you've found the right place!

We mainly perform Irish and Scottish songs, tunes, and dances, with a scattering of other regions mixed in for flavor. The band centers on dual fiddles, blending the crisp Donegal style with Scottish influences. We favor up-tempo dance tunes, lightly punctuated with slower, more contemplative music. Yes, it's true

As we reported on our blog, Ian passed away on August 8, 2006. His friends and family were in full force at the funeral on Friday the 11th, and also at the wake on Sunday. This loss came as quite a shock; Ian was a great friend and we'll all remember him well.
